10 Mysteries which had been Demystified

Hi all, here are some Mysteries which were Demystified, but many are not aware of it.



                                                          BERMUDA TRIANGLE      

Mystery : This is also known as Devil's Triangle, its a loosely defined region in the North Atlantic Ocean, where many aircrafts and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances, never to be seen again. 

Solved :   According to researrch, the average number of crafts disappearing here is the same as in any other well traveled part of the ocean. What that implies is, take any other part of the ocean that has seen its fair share of traffic, and you would end up with similar number of  ' disappearences ' . This story has survived on unnecessary hype. There have been no major disappearances  since 1999.

                                                                 BLOOP        

Mystery : It is a mysterious Ultra - low - frequency and an incredibly loud sound originating in the South Pacific that was heard by two stations which are separated by 5000 kilometers. People started to think it might be produced by an enormous animal that has never been seen before.

Solved :  The NOAA ( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ) Vents Program attributed the sound to that of a large Icequake, numerous Icequakes share similar spectrograms with Bloop, as well as the amplitude necessary to spot them despite ranges exceeding 5000 km.

                                                         EGYPTIAN PYRAMIDS

Mystery : The World has been baffled for years about just how slave workers transported the massive blocks across the valley of the Kings in around 2000 BC to build the majestic pyramids. It has often been called a work of the aliens.

Solved:  Dutch researchers have figured that the Egyptians placed heavy objects on a sledge, pulled by hundreds of workers, and simply poured water on the sand in front of it, which made it easier for the sledges to glide over the sand. It  really did take us thousands and thousands of years to crack something this simple.

                                                              ICA STONES

Mystery : They are a collection of andesitic stones from the Inca Empire found in Ica Province that bear a variety diagrams. Some of them supposedly have depictions of dinosaurs, and advanced technology and we wonder how people could predict it all, back in that age.

Solved :  Javier Cabrera Darquea collected and popularized the stones, obtaining many of them from a farmer named Basillio Uschuya, who after claiming it to be real ancient artifacts, confessed that he produced a patina by baking the stone in cow dung to give an authentic look, and, created the carvings using a knife.

                                                          THE IRON PILLAR

Mystery : A major tourist attraction, it has successfully avoided rust for around 1600 years despite being in open air. Most people naturally leave the explaining to ancient supernatural elements.

Solved : Scientific analysis proves that the pillar is coated with iron containing phosphorous that prevents it from corrosion.

     
                                                      SIDE NOTES IN HORNER'S ODYSSEY

Mystery:  The notes in the margin of this edition baffled people for a very long time thinking that it was a clue to something more important or there was a message hidden behind it.

Solved :    It turns out the marginalia was nothing but scribbled translation of the book in an archaic French shorthand.

                                                        THE CREW OF MARY CELESTE

Mystery :  The entire crew of Mary Celeste disappeared like poof! it was as if the whole ship just vanished in thin air with out any explanation, leaving everyone confused and worried.

Solved :   She was found later, it looks like the crew abandoned the ship when the alcohol on the board com busted. The crew, however, was never seen again, Scientists determined that a vapour based explosion would not damage anything, but it would still be a petrifying experience.

                                                                 LOCH NESS MONSTER

Mystery :  Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, was the most well - known lake monster in the history of lake monsters. Some people believed it to be a living dinosaur or even a sea serpent that swam into the lake before it became landlocked. But, Nessie became a reality for a lot of people and shot to stardom after a photograph of the monster showing his head and neck was published.

Solved : The image, taken by a surgeon from London, was later admitted as a hoax.

14. Interrobang - When you combine an exclamation mark with a question mark ( like ?! ), it is referred to as an interrobang.

15. Columella Nasi - The space between your nostrils is called Columella Nasi.

16. Armscye - The armhole in clothes, where the sleeves are sewn, is called Armscye.

17. Dysania - The condition of finding it difficult to get out of the bed in the morning is called Dysania.

18. Griffonage - Unreadable hand writing is called Griffonage.

19. Tittle - The dot over an "i" or a "j" is called tittle.

20. Crapulence - That utterly sick feeling we get after eating or drinking too much is called Crapulence.

21. Brannock Device - The metallic device used to measure our feet at the shoe store is called Brannock Device.

DHANRAJ PILLAI is a son of a worker at a local Ammunition factory and he practiced with a broken hockey sticks pasted up with gum and strings. After, all these initial hiccups in his career, he grew to score around 170 goals in 339 International matches for India. He had led India to a Gold Medal in 1998 Asian Games as well as in Asia Cup in the year 2003.

                                                                 

MILKA SINGH  was a boy who witnessed the killings of his parents and siblings during partition, after which he ran for his life and struggled for rehabilitation which had also driven him to become a petty thief stealing goods from trains. However, all these early difficulties in his life had driven him to win 77 of the 80 races he ran and made him to bring home 4 golds in Asian Games and 1 in Common Wealth Games, though he missed an Bronze medal by 1/100th of second in the 1960 Rome Olympics.

                                                             

MARY KOM was a daughter of a landless agricultural laborer, but that did not stop her from becoming an Five - time world Amateur Champion, the only women boxer to win a medal in all 6 World Championships, an Bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics and last but not the least 1 Gold and 1 Bronze in the last concluded Asian Games.

                                                                   

PT USHA was the 2nd of six children and her Father ran a small cloth store, she also faced ill health and financial instability as a young girl. She is called as the " Queen of Indian Track and Field ". She is a winner of 13 Gold medals in the Asian Games and Asian Championships. However, she missed the 400 metre hurdles Bronze in 1984 Los Angeles Olympics by 1/100th of a second.

                                                                     

GAGAN NARANG was able to get a rifle after his father sold his property for money. But, he won Bronze in the 2012  London Olympics, 8 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal in the Common Wealth Games, he also won 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals in the Asian Games.

                                                                   

KRISHNA POORNIA milked buffaloes at her father's dairy as a substitute to modern fitness equipment, to strengthen her arms and improve muscle power. She became the First Indian Women to reach the Final in Discus Throw in Olympics. SAINA NEHWAL struggled to train and her father borrowed to pay for coaching and equipment. But currently, she is a Bronze Medalist in 2012 London Olympics, Silver Medalist at 2015 BWF World Championship, the winner of 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze medals at the Common Wealth Games. She was ranked no.1 in Women's Singles by Badminton World Federation in 2015. SARDARA SINGH  practiced after his mother borrowed money to buy him shoes and kit, but later on became the youngest player to captain the Indian National Hockey Team. He had led India to Gold at the 2014 Commonweatlh Games. He was Honored with Padma Shri in 2015.

                                                                 

SARITA DEVI hails from an economically backward agricultural family in Manipur, she had helped her parentsin collecting firewood and in the fields. However, she won a Silver Medal at the Asian Boxing Championships in 2001, an Gold medal at the 2006 World Championships and an Silver Medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

                                                                   

SHIVA KESHAVAN competed without a coach or Winter Sports Infrastructure in the Country and had been constantly struggling for funds to compete. But, after all these he turned to become a Five Time Olympian, the first Indian to compete in luge at the Winter Olympics. He also holds the World record for the Youngest ever Olympian in Luge ( 16 years ) and had won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze in Asian Luge Cup.

                                                             

SHUBHAM JAGLAN was the son of a milkman from a small village in Haryana and practiced using shabby clubs in the fields and watching YouTube Videos. But, later he turned out to become India's Golfing Prodigy and won the Junior World Golf Championships in California and won the Taylormade World Juniors in July, 2013. He also won IJGA World Stars of Junior Golf in July 2015.

                                                                 

VIJENDER SINGH is the son of a bus driver with Haryana Roadways and his father worked over time to support his education. But, that helped him become the First India Boxer to win an Olympic Medal, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games and 1 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal at the Asian Games.

                                                                   

SUSHIL KUMAR is the son of  a DTC bus driver and practiced with minimal funds and poor training facilities. He won 1 Bronze and 1 Silver at the Olympic Games. He also won an Gold at the 2010 World Wrestling Championship, he also won 2 Commonwealth Gold Medals and 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze at the Asian Games.
